Sightseeing in Washington D.C.

We did lots of sightseeing. Who needs to workout when you are visiting D.C. I don't think I have walked so much in my life. The first thing we visited was the World War II Monument. What a sobering experience. Actually most of the war memorials were sobering. I believe I was particularly affected by the WWII memorial because my father fought in WWII. The memorial has a wreathe for each state and/or commonwealth with the Pacific on one side and the Atlantic forces featured on the other. I enjoyed honoring those who gave their lives and fought for our freedoms. It was truly a time when nations of the world united against treacherous forces that would have tried to deprive us of the liberties so many had already fought so hard to obtain and maintain.
